Muskoka Animals

One part of Muskoka that needs to be addressed is the animals be it at the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary located in the beautiful village of Rosseau or adopt an animal from one of the Ontario Humane Society branches . Hats off to Muskoka Bear Cub Rescue Program - "We don't usually ask for money," said Tony Grant, manager of Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, but the large number of cubs made it a necessity, so a letter campaign was mounted to seek support for the cubs from 1500 regular contributors. The response was amazing - $30,000.00! "It showed that a lot of people cared about the bears."

Walkers Point Marina always raises money for the Sanctuary. "We have worked with them over the years; they're doing good things, and they are very needy," said Sharon Dunn, Walkers Point Marina's owner. "We are so very proud of our customers."

Keep a bottle of hydrogen perioxide, tomato juice, vinegar and pepermint and tooth paste for skunk scent removal- mix it together and keep the animal out of the house til clean. I am told this is an urban myth and apparently a product called Skunk Off is sold at various stores and online and it works. Good Luck now, best to know what works before it happens, let me know.

Now are your pets within site? have they been fixed?Try do these things and have a great time. Send us any pictures of your friends-playing in the water!

Another interesting place to interact with different animals and experience the largest animal outreach program then check out the Muskoka Wildlife Centre located 20 minutes north of Orillia on hwy 11.

Another Area that is clubs such as the Barrie Canoe Club which has been in operation for 25 years on Kempenfelt bay. A great group of people to get out and get to know. Meeting are held on the second monday of each month at the South Shore Community Center on Lakeshore Road.

If you live or Cottage in the Orillia area then check out the Orillia Rowing Club in at Tudhope Park in Orillia. This is a great sport that is great for the lakes and hopefully some of the other Lakes will also setup similiar clubs.

On Lake Rossseau you can join the Rosseau Sailing Club or if you cottage in Southern Part of Muskoka then try South Muskoka Sailing Club. If you should want to charter orrent a sail boat then check out SailMuskoka who sail on Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph and Lake Muskoka. A great opportunity for a different cottage experience.

We will be adding to this page shortly- currently renovating our house so time is limited but I hope you are enjoying the site.

I enjoy the High Falls in Bracebridge minus the Power house but it has made Bracebridge energy sufficient for the past 20 years. Now council wants to expand it. So the region is growing and so are it's power requirements, but restricting the water flow will definitely those down stream as well as the ecosystem. The complexities of growth and balance.

Muskoka is full of snow, driveways that need grooming, logs to be split and do you ever wish you had a 4 wheel drive tractor with a snow blower on the front and I am talking about a REAL TRACTOR. Then check out these tractors from China, new tractors without impletments from $6k . Check out JDB Sales & Services
