Chris-Craft Rocket 17'
Asking Price: $16,500
1953 Chris Craft 17’ Rocket.
This is a great example of the iconic postwar double cockpit runabout. Not many built this is #5 . S/N D-17-005. All numbers matching, verified by a copy of the build record. Mechanically sound and reliable 95hp model K that moves this lightweight boat along pretty good. I am fairly certain that it had a full engine rebuild in the past, burns no oil, even compression and great oil pressure at idle and cruise. Used every summer and indoor stored. Good chrome, new windshield glass, original bottom (in good condition), currently has copper anti-fouling bottom original bottom paint should be bright yellow. Everything works as it should. Original Chris Craft gauges working and intact all deck hardware is correct. Interior and carpet was replaced in the past but not to original specifications. I trust this boat and take the family in it day and night. A great looking boat of a manageable size. Very presentable but could use a few coats of varnish on the top deck. Has storage cover, safety kit all ropes and bumpers included. Rides around beautifully on its roadworthy Shorlander bunk trailer which is included in the sale. Yearly bearing service completed and has a new spare. Stored in SW Ontario, 1 hr from US border (Port Huron Mi.) and spends its summers in the water at Port Carling, Ontario.
