Ames was a specialty builder in Muskoka, Ontario, who also built the
Commanche and the Apache raceboats.
This Sea Sled is powered by a Ford V8
(approximately 145 h.p.) with dual carbs and a floor transmission bar.The Sea
Sled is renown for its speed and attention to detail. It's a very
collectable classic.
The very unique hull design of this boat operates on the
hydrofoil principle. The faster the boat goes, the more the hull rises, reducing
resistance and offering greater speed.
The Sea Sled was always stored indoors
in a boathouse in Muskoka, Ontario. It is currently owned (and has been for many
years) by the same family. The cottage has been sold so the boat must go
(by August 30th).
The Sea Sled would benefit from a coat of varnish and
perhaps new deck chairs. (No trailer included)
The vendor is motivated.
