Portage Boat Works, LLc is rooted some 30 years ago through John Lupton,our local restoration specialist who almost singlehandedly has keep the St Louis area wood boat community floating all that time. It now is comprised of 3 of us, Ed Oswald our design and electrical engineer, myself covering certification standards/USCG-ABYC and administration, and of course John our Master builder. Our passion for the past has inspired the designs of our new mahogany runabouts, just 2 so far the GR and the triple. These are done traditionally for the most part but far from built as was done years before. We really enjoy building them, and are making a true effort in our area to reaquaint the public with the beauty and magnificence of mahogany boats, while of course trying to forever battle their rep for being maintenance intensive. We are members of the ACBS Mississippi Valley chapter under Jack Hartwig, our boat show is coming up June 22-24 at Grafton IL.

The Gentleman's Racer is just plain fun, looks like something out of a James Bond Movie. It's the Stutz Bearcat of the river around here.
