ACBS Toronto Chapter Spring Tour of Muskoka boat shops

The weather cooperated wonderfully last weekend (April 25th)  for the annual ACBS Spring tour.
Some ten shops opened their doors to the approximately 250 wooden boat enthusiasts who crowded around a bevy of wooden eye candy of all shapes and descriptions. The photos below more or less speak for themselves.

The boat below, in Paul Brackley’s Gravenhurst shop, was built in Florida for Ransom Olds of Oldsmobile fame. At one point it belonged to the gangster Al Capone, before it was seized by the US. Internal Revenue Service.

Paul also had a beautiful 30+ foot Chris=Craft hard-top on display

MIke Windsor’s Gravenhurst shop boasted a beautiful long deck launch.

Mike has been working on this beauty below for several years, as time permits. the launch had been badly burned in a fire decades ago. Careful research enabled Mike to accurately determine the configuration of the burned out hull.

A new highlight of the Tour this year was a visit to the Muskoka Sea-Flea display in Gravenhurst Bay.

Tim Butson’s Bracebridge shop was humming with a number of glistening beauties.

Jeremy Fowler’s Duke Boats in Port Carling Ontario includes a launch almost ready for immersion.  (The ice is finally out of the Muskoka Lakes)
