October 30, 2018 in Uncategorized

Please see notes from the owner below.
This mahogany plank runabout was completely restored by my late father following his retirement in 2010. It has been stored indoors and never put in the water and includes a custom built single axle trailer. Complete with a rebuilt flat head 125 HP, 6 cylinder Gray Marine with Paragon transmission and professionally re-upholstered maroon seats. Quick Launch Marine Survey (QL1132) done in June of 2011, rated in good condition, appraised at $13-14,000. Price: Asking $12,000.  For further details and contact information, please click on the link. Ad number pb842 (Additional photos below).

Congratulations to the seller and buyer of this 1955 Chris-Craft Continental. (below)  The boat was advertised at $16,500. Once again the boat was sold through the Port Caling Boats website.  The owner, Doug H., stated that he received a fair price for the Continental.
Chris-Craft Continental: 20ft, 1955
This 1955 mahogany Chris-Craft  was located in a neighbour’s dry (dirt floor) boat house in 2012.  It had been in storage for twenty years! The boat was wet sanded, re-varnished and all the chrome was re-polished. The Continental has always been boat house stored and offers strong wood in great shape.  The boat runs really well…a fast 28 mph+, powered by a 6 cylinder 120 hp Hercules with three carbs.  The engine has been converted to a twelve volt system, so it starts easily. An automatic bilge pump has also been installed in the boat. Last year a fresh coat of copper bottom paint was applied to the hull. The Chris-Craft seats four or five comfortably and handles the ‘big water’ of Georgian Bay.  The sale includes four life jackets and a safety kit.

SeaBIrd sells quickly!

Although vintage boats do not normally sell like hot-cakes,  given the nature of wooden boat enthusiasts,  we are pleased to report that this beautiful twenty-one foot Seabird , found a new home in just five weeks on the Port Carling Boats website. Although the boat was very well maintained, the time had come to to install a new bottom on the “Bird”.  The owner’s VERY reasonable asking price of $4,000 was undoubtedly a significant factor for the new owner. We wish him/her well with the restoration and hope to see this beautiful classic on the water sooner than later.   (Additional photos below

In praise of Port Carling Boats:
We received this kind note from the vendor of the SeaBird.

…Wanted to let you know that the Seabird has been sold and the transaction facilitated very smoothly through your website. Really appreciated the help and quick turnaround at Port Carling Boats in getting this set up and online.  I must tell you the quality of inquiries from respondents to the Port Carling Boats ad was amazing, learned a great deal along the way.
Many thanks,

Gary H.

Incredible price reduction on 27′ Chris-Craft Sportsman

September 27, 2018 in Uncategorized

We have been instructed by the owner to reduce the price on this classic 27 ft. Chris Craft.  Original price: $9,800.  New price.  $3,500   WOW!
Please see details below

Chris-Craft Sportsman: 27 ft, 1962
Notes from the owner:
“I have up for sale my 1962, 27 ft, Twin Engine, plywood lapstrake hull , Chris-Craft Sportsman. This open launch hull is in excellent condition, having been kept in a barn most of the time since 1962. Has prime coat on outer hull. Varnish has been removed for staining and re-coating. The engines are (twin Gray 283’s. One was rebuilt only a few hours on it). The Nautolex decking is secure. Has cuddy cabin. Only requires cosmetic restoration. One of 240 built. Perfect boat to keep up in the boat house for that special evening or excellent guest conveyance for a 5 star resort. Boat is located north of Toronto, in Barrie Ontario.”
Note: A tandem axle trailer with new tires, rims and bearings is available for purchase. Also, The drive shafts and props come with the boat.

Original Price: $9,800.
New price (September, 2018), $3,500   WOW!   For further details and contact information, please click on the link  Ad number pb718

Editor’s note:  I have seen this boat and believe that the owner is a “straight shooter”.  Even though the Sportsman is not cosmetically appealing in it’s current condition, I believe that it offers significant potential, especially for “big water” boaters.  Surely the engines alone (one rebuilt) in this Chris-Craft are worth the asking price.
