It has been said that the owners of Disappearing Propeller Boats have more fun than any other boating group. These folks, usually members of the Dispro Owners Association, have even braved the volatile waters of Georgian Bay on several of their “misery tours”.
Dispros were a staple of the waters of Ontario and beyond for many decades. The fact that many are still operational speaks well of their durability and charm.
Our website currently offers an Uncle Sam model Dispro, with a rebuilt hull, engine and propeller device. Please see the information below…

Lindsay Built Dispro: 18.5 ft, 1928
Wanita is 18′-6″ in length and was rebuilt by Fred Forster (hull),  Paul Dodington (engine) and John Thomson (device) and re-launched Sept. 1996. (all well photographed).

Gently used since then.  She is in excellent running condition and comes complete with hunter green seat cushions and boat cover, spare prop and original bow lights.  Her trailer is like new an in excellent condition. .  Located near Dorset, Ontario.

It’s still available…charming Disappearing Propeller Boat
Dippy lovers take note. It’s not every day that a “Dispro” becomes available at this price.

The greatest boat afloat!! This 1948, 18 ft. Greavette “Dippy” has been family owned for over 30 years, Maintained by Paul Dodington. Not prefect but very close. boat was restored 30 years ago and hasn’t had much use since then.
The Dippy is powered by a single cylinder St.Lawrence engine, with a maximum cruising speed of about 7 mph. (The engine is a gas miser! Many hours on a single tank)

This boat may be of special interest to our American friends as the Dispro is located in Tennessee, (although at this price, it would be worth the drive south from Canada!)

This charming dispro was restored in 2011. It has been carefully maintained, is complete and runs well, with an engine “in perfect running condition”. There is a spare St. Lawrence, (similar to the St. Lawrence
engine in the boat) available for $500. The sale includes a single axle trailer, canvas cover, spoon blade oars, electronic ignition, fitted cushions and a glass aquascope (to examine the disappearing propeller mechanism).
