Antique and Classic Boat Society (Toronto Chapter) Spring Tour; April 30, 2016

Wonderful weather and the gracious hospitality of Muskoka, Ontario’s boat builders and restorers made for a wonderful day to enjoy wooden “eye candy” of all shapes, sizes and periods. Enjoy the photos below. (Stay tuned for the video)
The first stop on the tour was Peter Breen’s shop, north west of Toronto. Peter’s notes on the first three photos are below.
The four photos below were taken at Tom Adam’s shop in Port Carling. Tom and his staff have been working on “Rita”, a 50 foot, 1914 Minett Cruiser, for some twenty months. She is scheduled to be in the water this summer. The hull planking has been replaced and “buttoned down”.
A beautiful antique long deck launch awaits further coats of varnish.
The two photos below represent work ongoing at Duke Boat Works in Port Carling and those woodies in storage eager to hit the waves for some summer fun.
Curtis Hillman’s shop in Milford Bay is temporary home to one of the most beautifully designed Shepherd boats ever to see the light of day. There is scarcely a straight board anywhere on this boat.
This Gentleman’s Racer (below) is in for some cosmetic work.
The boat below is a “kit boat, purchased in the 1950s apparently from a department stored, and assembled in the original owner’s living room. It’s almost ready to go back to its current owner!
