Boat Shows in a Virtual World

August 12, 2021 in Uncategorized

In Ontario at least, it will be until next summer, all going well, that we can return to in-person boat shows. In a typical summer, there would be at least two if not four boat shows in Muskoka.

The ACBS-Toronto boat show is usually around July 10th. The Muskoka Lakes Association holds its boat show every other year in August after the regatta and the Lake of Bays boat show in after that. There have been car and boat shows in Rosseau every so often as well.

ACBS-Toronto has moved to the virtual world this summer and encouraged its members to post their boats on a special public website. The site was officially launched July 10. It can be found at boatshow.acbs.ca. Members will have posted portfolios to showcase their individual boats.

Mike Gridley believes it is critical for the ACBS to have a strong web presence and that this virtual show will allow members who are out of the area and who would normally not regularly participate in the show, to share the fun of their antique and classic boat. Of course websites, facebook pages and YouTube links are there as well.

Check it out. I’m sure a lot of work has gone into making it work for members and visitors alike. I have posted three portfolios: One for the Muskoka Boat and Heritage Centre; one for the collection of Lee Anderson; and one to showcase my images. “See” you there!
