Rare Peterborough restored “barn find”.
We recently had an opportunity to view a restored “barn find” that we believe offers exciting possibilities for the right purchaser. The boat is a very rare 1936 Peterborough runabout, 21 ft., triple cockpit, about 90 % restored. Don’t be fooled by the dust covered decking or the lack of trim around the cockpits in the photos. (We hope to have better shots soon.) The Peterborough was rebuilt about 20 years ago by the vendor, and has sat in the heated storage facility, unused, ever since. The runabout has new ribs, decking, a new transom and some new bottom planks, plus eight coats of varnish. The hardware has been re-chromed. The engine, converted to a 12 volt system and currently not in the boat, also received a “ground up” rebuild to the tune of $2900, a significant amount of money at the time the work was completed.
The owner is asking $25,000 for this beautiful, rare runabout.
